JANUARY 15, 2015 – Camilo Echavarria, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLC, has been elected to the board of directors of the California Minority Counsel Program.
Echavarria will officially assume his duties on Monday, January 26, at the program’s board and staff retreat.
The California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP) is a non-profit dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession by providing attorneys of color with access and opportunity for business and professional development. CMCP brings business lawyers of all races together as members and colleagues, regardless of the type of organization in which they practice, for the purpose of achieving diversity and inclusion within law firms and in-house law departments, and in the outside counsel spend of corporations and government agencies.
The 24-member board previously included DWT Los Angeles partner Jimmy Nguyen.
Camilo Echavarria defends large corporations in single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff and class action cases involving wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour issues. He also handles complex business and entertainment litigation for financial, retail, health care and media clients. Last year he was named one of California’s Top 75 Labor and Employment Lawyers by the Daily Journal.
