JANUARY 9, 2017 – Davis Wright Tremaine has expanded its commercial litigation practice in New York with the addition of John Magliery, an accomplished, results-driven lawyer with 15 years of experience, who joins the firm as a partner.
Magliery is skilled at handling general commercial disputes as well as litigation involving entertainment, hospitality, consumer disputes and investigations, real estate and construction, insurance, and securitized transactions. He has won favorable outcomes for national and international businesses in complex matters before state and federal courts and arbitration panels across the U.S. He has also successfully avoided litigation through the negotiation of hard-fought, favorable settlements.

Magliery began his legal career at Paul Hastings in New York. He went on to join a Manhattan-based litigation boutique at its inception, where he was last a partner for six years before joining Davis Wright Tremaine.
He has served as first or second chair trial counsel in bench trials, oral arguments, evidentiary hearings, arbitration, and mediation proceedings. He also provides his clients with effective, preemptive litigation avoidance strategies.
Magliery has acted as primary U.S. outside counsel for one of the world’s largest entertainment attraction companies in claims ranging from labor class action, Department of Justice ADA investigation, ADA private action, NLRB charge, consumer protection class action, and IP infringement.
Magliery received his B.A. from Grinnell College and his J.D. from Cornell Law School.
