OCTOBER 16, 2018 – Nicolas Jampol, a partner in the media and entertainment practice of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, has been named to Variety’s 2018 list of “Hollywood’s New Leaders,” which recognizes the most prominent up-and-comers in the entertainment business who are 40 years old and younger. Jampol was the only private-practice lawyer to make the list.

The winners were profiled in today’s issue of Variety under the headline: “Entrusted With Keys to Tomorrow’s Biz: The 40-and-under crowd with the smarts and drive to push the industry forward.”

Jampol litigates and provides pre-broadcast and IP counseling services to clients that create, use or distribute all forms of content. Variety noted that “he has played an integral role in helping the [Davis Wright Tremaine] team expand its footprint and create a one-stop-shop for content issues,” which includes everything from IP counseling to clearance review and litigation.

Jampol provides intellectual property and clearance advice to a wide range of content creators and content service providers.  He has worked on films including “Kong: Skull Island,” “Beatriz at Dinner,” “Come Sunday,” and “G Funk.” He has also worked on numerous television productions, including “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee,” “Genius: Picasso,” and “The Break with Michelle Wolf.”

His litigation practice focuses on copyright, trademark, right-of-publicity, idea submission, and other disputes.  He recently prevailed on a motion to dismiss a trademark and copyright-infringement lawsuit involving the television series “Love at First Flight.”

Jampol told Variety: “Whether we’re counseling or litigating, the goal is the same: clear the path for our clients to focus on creating great content.”
