JAN. 30, 2020 – Davis Wright Tremaine has received a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2020 Corporate Equality Index, recognizing the firm as one of the country's "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality" for the seventh consecutive year.
The Corporate Equality Index is recognized as the premiere benchmarking tool for LGBTQ workplace equality in the U.S. and has incorporated increasingly stringent criteria for achieving a perfect score.
According to the foundation, employers featured in the index "are continuing to advance vital and rigorous policies and practices to protect their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workers—both at home and abroad."
CEI rating criteria have three key pillars:
- Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
- Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families;
- Supporting an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility.
Davis Wright Tremaine's inclusion efforts include an active LGBTQ affinity group, which provides support, mentoring, and networking opportunities. The group's mission is to create and maintain a work environment that values and acknowledges the talents and contributions of LGBTQ attorneys and allows them to express their full identities. Among the group's many initiatives are an annual networking event for law students, clients, and in-house counsel, which has been held in Los Angeles (2018) and New York City (2019), and is scheduled for the West Coast this year.
