March 24, 2022 – Following another year of significant wins for leading recording artists in cutting-edge copyright cases, Peter Anderson, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine, has been selected again as one of the leading music lawyers in the country by Billboard magazine.

In its annual list of Top Music Lawyers, honoring "the savviest legal counselors in the business," Anderson was recognized for his wins in high-stakes matters on behalf of clients including The Weeknd, Bryson Tiller, and Authentic Brands Group.

Anderson has more than three decades of experience in copyright and entertainment litigation. He has represented record labels, music publishers, recording and performing artists, and others in a range of intellectual property matters, including copyright infringement, breach of contract, unfair competition, and trademark matters.

His ongoing work includes representing Cher in a headline-making royalties lawsuit against the widow of Sonny Bono. His 2020 win at the 9th Circuit on behalf of Led Zeppelin in a challenge to the iconic song "Stairway to Heaven" is widely recognized as having changed the landscape for music copyright claims and has been cited in judicial opinions well over 80 times.

Anderson's previous honors include being named an "MVP of the Year" in Media & Entertainment by Law360 and a "Trailblazer" in intellectual property by the National Law Journal. This is his fourth consecutive year being recognized by Billboard.
