Comment Deadline Extended in Lifeline Rulemaking

In July, we reported that the FCC implemented several changes to the Lifeline program, and the corresponding deadlines when those changes will become effective.  At the time, the Commission also issued Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“FNPRM”), which proposed additional reforms to the Lifeline Program and requested comments on those changes.

Several petitioners requested an extension of time to submit comments in response to the FNPRM in light of the complexity and breadth of the topics covered.  On Aug. 4, the Commission granted the petition to in order to allow commenters the opportunity to provide “more thoughtful consideration” of the complex issues under consideration.

The amended deadline for initial comments is Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, and the extended reply comment filing deadline is Sept. 30, 2015.
