What does it take for a business to survive 110 years? Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1907, Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is a fifth-generation, family owned company that has held a lasting family legacy for over a century. It began as a repairer of survey equipment but now, operating from its headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, is one of the leading suppliers of precision optical instruments including red dot sights, spotting scopes and binoculars. It was the 2016 large business award winner for the Oregon Ethics in Business Awards and a past honoree of the Austin Family Business Center.

Please join Greg Waggoner and Joanna Morrill, fourth and fifth generation members, as they share insights they developed through their involvement with Leupold & Stevens, Inc. As a 2014 article in Family Business Magazine noted, Leupold & Stevens, Inc. has spent more than a decade creating a governance structure that "gives them the best of both worlds - a company with non-family management that more than holds its own in a competitive marketplace while reflecting and preserving the values of its family shareholders."

Greg Waggoner is currently serving on the Leupold & Stevens, Inc. Board of Directors. Greg has worked in the family business for close to 22 years, starting in the machine shop and working his way up through various leadership positions. Greg was instrumental in helping the family develop the Family infrastructure Charters, Family Council, Family Foundation and Family Office. He is a graduate of Oregon State University with Degrees in Business and Graphic Design.

Joanna Morrill is a fifth generation family owner and is currently the Leupold & Stevens, Inc. Office Manager. She is a graduate of Portland State University with a master's degree in conflict resolution and wrote her master's thesis about conflict management within family businesses.
