Mike, a fourth-generation family member, succeeded his father, Michael Henningsen, Sr., as President of the business in 1999. Soon after, Mike Jr. became Chairman of the Board. Mike Sr. was succeeded as president, by an outside member of the Board, in 1989 but returned to the position in 1992. Henningsen Cold Storage (originally named Northwestern Ice & Cold Storage) was founded in Oregon in 1923 by Waldemar F. Henningsen, Sr. The company now operates in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
