This panel explored the relationship between the right of the press to observe and report upon criminal trials and the fair trial rights of famous and/or notorious criminal defendants. The panel focused on rights of press access to trial and pre-trial pleadings and proceedings, including voir dire and jury questionnaires, as well as upon the imposition of gag orders and the televising of trial proceedings. The panel consisted of expert practitioners in the fields of media law, criminal prosecution and defense, and journalism.
