In celebration of Black History Month, Davis Wright Tremaine's PRISM committee held a special noon-time event with renowned Jazz musician Marcus Shelby. Mr. Shelby spoke regarding the Port Chicago Mutiny, which led to the desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces and will share selections from his music, inspired by the incident.
Mr. Shelby has served on the faculty of the Young Musicians Program at Berkeley University, as an adjunct instructor of Composition for Jazz Orchestra with Stanford Jazz Workshop and was the 2006 Resident Dialogues Fellow with the Committee on Black Performing Arts at Stanford University.
