Ben Bridge Jeweler, a 5th generation family-run business, celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. Currently one of the top 10 largest jewelry retailers in the US, the company has faced numerous challenges and opportunities including the decision to partner in 2000 with multi-billionaire investment legend Warren Buffet. Now a Berkshire Hathaway company, Ben Bridge Jeweler continues to be led by 4th generation cousins Jon and Ed Bridge.
Herb Bridge (3rd generation), who led the company for nearly 30 years and is, along with his brother, co-chairman of the board and his son Jon Bridge (4th generation), co-CEO and general counsel, shared challenges and lessons learned from transitioning leadership from one generation to the next and discussed how they work together now.
This was a unique opportunity to hear a multi-generational perspective on succession and leadership transition from owners of one of our country's most prominent family-run businesses.
