On June 11, DWT payments partner Andy Lorentz joined Kevin Boglarsky (Director, Payment Products at Discover), James Hutchison (SVP Emerging Commerce Products, FIS), and Brian Knight (Associate Director, The Milken Institute) at the NBCPA’s Power of Prepaid conference in Washington, DC, to share insights on the future of digital payments and technology and assess why various technologies have yet to take off – and more importantly, when it is anticipated that these technologies will begin to take hold. The panelists contemplated current and emerging digital payment platforms, including Google Wallet, Lyft, Bitcoin, Paypal, Facebook and Twitter, and explored opportunities and challenges for the prepaid industry presented by each. They also discussed how the prepaid and mobile communities have effectively partnered through successful product launches and shared best practices for embracing and investing in emerging payment systems.
