Project W - Positive Changes in 2022

In 2015 when I dreamed up the idea that eventually became Project W, I was motivated by frustration at the lack of advancement of women in the corporate world and in the legal profession. Where were the women CEOs and CFOs? Where were the women in the Boardroom? Where were the female founders of billion-dollar tech companies? Why hadn't the legal profession achieved gender parity in its partnership ranks?

I came to recognize that women's advancement is a long game. It requires overcoming structural impediments and opportunity deficits – whether you are a corporate executive, a lawyer, or an entrepreneur. So, Project W has set out to overcome those, with a particular emphasis on unlocking the skills and talents of women of color. To that end, we have partnered with dozens of investors, executives, and professionals, who've been beyond generous with their time and expertise, to support female founders and help elevate women in their careers. Our community has grown to nearly 3,000, and we're making amazing progress. You can read more about our work last year in our 2021 Impact Report.

As Project W turns the page to its next chapter, I am doing the same. After 42 years, I retired from the practice of law effective December 31. But I'm not going anywhere. Thanks to the continued commitment of DWT to the advancement of women, I will be devoting all my time and energy partnering with the amazing Project W team on our mission to achieve gender equity in the workplace.

I am so excited to be able to continue the most rewarding work of my career supporting the remarkable founders from whom I have learned so much and engaging with our deeply valued community of investors and advisors.
