With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the world has begun to be a more dangerous and unpredictable place to do business. In light of this unsettled global outlook, the US and the UK, as well as many other countries, are ramping up their foreign direct investment regimes and sanctions with unprecedented vigor.

Companies and international investors involved in global transactions cannot ignore their application and need to successfully navigate these overlapping regimes to deliver on their inward investment plans.

In this webinar, DWT partners Allison Davis and Lafayette Greenfield provided guidance on how best to approach gaining clearance. They compared and contrasted the existing US CFIUS regulatory regime with the new UK National Security and Investment Act 2021 (NSI Act) including the intertwined effect of export classification and control, and economic sanctions on cross border and foreign direct investment transactions providing guidance on best practices and common pitfalls.
