The Office of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion is proud to introduce a presentation honoring the immeasurable impact of slavery on Indigenous people of the Americas on Thursday, November 16 at 12:00pm (PT) / 3:00pm (ET). This program is part of our regular DEI Education series.

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, we hosted Estevan Rael-Gálvez, Ph.D., Executive Director of Native Bound Unbound - Archive of Indigenous Slavery, who discussed the project that centers around "creating an open-source centralized digital repository centered on the lives of millions of enslaved Indigenous people across the Americas."

The presentation focused on understanding the history of the enslaved, as well as serving as a platform for Indigenous people to learn about their history, as well as providing a space for healing. The purpose of the project is also centered on collecting "archival imprints and cultural expressions" to tell stories of places, people and moments, and their resilience in the face of brutality.
