Kerry Burns is an experienced civil litigator focusing her practice on employment litigation and counseling. She has represented clients across the country in a multitude of industries, including technology, media, finance, hospitality, retail, and manufacturing regarding their most pressing business needs.
Kerry assists clients through all stages of high-stakes litigation involving claims for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unfair competition, and wage-and-hour issues in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Kerry also devotes a significant portion of her practice to counseling management on risk mitigation and litigation avoidance by helping employers implement sensible and effective policies in compliance with laws affecting the workplace. Kerry regularly conducts sensitive workplace investigations and drafts and negotiates key employment agreements, including with respect to hiring, separation, and unfair competition and trade secrets. Kerry also has experience advising clients on employment issues that may arise in connection with the purchase and sale of private companies.
Kerry began her career as a commercial litigator handling matters involving complex financial services litigation, First Amendment law, and white-collar defense. Prior to joining DWT, Kerry practiced at employment and litigation boutiques.
