Evan Coppotelli is an associate on the Entertainment Transactions team within the Media, Entertainment, Patent, Trademark, and Advertising (MEPTA) group at Davis Wright Tremaine. He represents a broad range of clients, including major studios, networks, and streaming platforms, as well as independent producers, production companies, screenwriters, authors, and IP rightsholders. He also counsels prestigious nonprofit arts organizations in New York, including those behind notable Broadway productions.

Evan provides comprehensive legal services spanning development, production, and distribution. His work includes drafting and negotiating agreements, conducting chain-of-title research and due diligence, ensuring union and guild compliance, managing corporate filings, and registering copyrights with the U.S. Copyright Office. He has received numerous screen credits for his work as production counsel on major studio films and award-winning documentary productions. Additionally, he has significant expertise in sales and distribution, having represented a leading distributor of high-quality narrative and documentary feature films.

Evan has worked primarily at media and entertainment law firms in New York and also gained in-house experience at a Los Angeles-based independent studio. His notable accomplishments include representing an Academy Award-winning screenwriter in developing a limited series, negotiating a deal with Netflix for a renowned comedian to write and produce an original movie, and advising an advertising agency on engaging A-list talent for a Super Bowl commercial.

Evan earned his BFA in Film and Television from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he completed the Entertainment, Media, and Intellectual Property Specialization. Combining his lifelong passion for filmmaking with his legal expertise, he enjoys collaborating with clients on meaningful and creatively fulfilling projects.
