Kat Dunnigan is a member of DWT's advertising law group. She has deep experience working closely with small companies and startups new to advertising self-regulation, advising a broad spectrum of clients on claim substantiation and representing them before the National Advertising Division (NAD) and National Advertising Review Board (NARB). She previously served as a senior attorney for NAD and the lead attorney for its Fast-Track SWIFT program, gaining considerable expertise in review proceedings, evidence analysis, decision drafting, and both legal and scientific precedents in the marketing and advertising world.
Kat helped revamp the BBB self-regulatory programs, including Fast-Track SWIFT and Complex Track. As NAD's lead attorney on dietary supplement marketing standards, Kat drafted decisions involving complicated scientific evidence and health-related claims. She has presented at multiple legal and industry conferences and seminars, including eight years as an invited speaker at the FTC Homeopathic Medicine & Advertising Workshop.
Before joining NAD, Kat had years of experience as a litigator in state and federal court, including at the appellate level, arguing cases in employment, civil rights, and other areas of law. She began her legal career advocating for vulnerable minors in child welfare and juvenile delinquency cases
