Jeff Giametta
Of Counsel
Jeff Giametta advises alcohol beverage companies on regulatory, licensing, and compliance matters across the United States. He works with wineries, breweries, distilleries, distributors, restaurants, hotels, and other industry businesses navigating the complex federal and state laws governing how alcohol beverages are produced, marketed, distributed, and sold within the three-tier regulatory system.
Drawing on both legal and in-house industry experience, Jeff helps emerging brands, established producers, distributors, and hospitality companies manage regulatory risk while developing practical strategies for marketing, distribution, and business growth.
Clients regularly turn to Jeff for guidance on:
- Structuring promotional programs, sponsorships, and marketing campaigns that comply with tied-house and trade practice laws
- Navigating multi-state and cross-commodity alcohol licensing and permitting requirements
- Addressing distribution relationships and retailer engagement issues
- Developing compliant direct-to-consumer shipping and sales strategies
- Managing alcohol marketing, advertising, and social media compliance
Jeff's practice focuses on alcohol beverage regulation, including licensing and permitting, tied-house and trade practice compliance, and alcohol marketing and advertising law. He regularly advises clients on promotions, influencer and social media campaigns, sponsorships, sampling programs, and other industry arrangements that raise tied-house or trade practice considerations.
He also counsels alcohol beverage companies on distribution relationships, direct-to-consumer shipping, and multi-state regulatory compliance, helping businesses structure compliant sales and marketing strategies as they expand into new markets.
Jeff leads the firm's team responsible for managing alcohol beverage licensing and permitting projects nationwide, coordinating multi-state licensing efforts for producers, distributors, and retailers.
He regularly works with state alcohol regulatory agencies and the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) to help clients obtain and maintain the licenses necessary to operate and grow their businesses. Jeff also frequently speaks at alcohol industry conferences and continuing legal education programs on alcohol beverage regulatory developments.
Before joining DWT, Jeff managed the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance team for a large California winery, experience that gives him practical insight into the operational and compliance challenges facing alcohol beverage companies.
