Chair, Practice Group DEI Committee (Energy)
For more than three decades, Nicholas A. Giannasca has counseled clients through transformative changes in the electric industry, including generation divestiture, independent power generation, open-access competition in transmission, and retail access. Today, his practice reflects the continuing evolution of the electric sector in areas of distributed generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, demand response and renewable energy, portfolio standards, and cyber/security. He advises commercial and industrial customers, project developers, financial institutions, and generation and transmission utilities.
Nicholas’ practice entails transactional, regulatory, and administrative litigation matters before FERC, NERC, state agencies, and a variety of RTOs/ISOs, including transmission, interconnections, and energy product markets in PJM and NYISO. He assists clients in drafting and negotiating a comprehensive range of electric industry contracts, including projects development documentation, while helping clients secure energy regulatory approvals for transactions and maintain compliance programs.
