Glenn Gundersen
Partner
Admitted to practice only in Pennsylvania. Supervised by partners in the New York office.
Widely recognized as a leading national authority on trademark law, Glenn Gundersen advises the owners of some of the world's most valuable marks on global brand clearance, trade dress and design protection, registration, licensing, IP acquisitions, infringement disputes, opposition and cancellation actions, fair use, and right of publicity law. He has conducted global searches, provided clearance advice, and developed international protection strategies for marks that have become world-famous.
His book "Trademark Searching," published in several editions by the International Trademark Association (INTA), is the only legal treatise on the subject of trademark clearance. He is also a co-author of "Intellectual Property in Mergers and Acquisitions," published by John Wiley.
Glenn has attained top-tier rankings in all the leading lawyer rating peer surveys, most notably Chambers Band 1 and The Legal 500 Hall of Fame. The Legal 500 referred to him as "the guru for trademark searching," citing his "excellent business judgment," "exceptional knowledge of trademark law," "very good insight," and an "unusually high level of responsiveness." He was also named the inaugural "Trademark Prosecutor of the Year" by Managing IP.
Glenn created Searching for Breakfast, which has been the leading annual national seminar on developments in clearance craft and search technology for nearly two decades.
A frequent panelist at national and international trademark law programs, Glenn co-chaired INTA's Meetings Committee, was a longtime member of its Meetings Board, and has spoken at many INTA annual meetings, forums, and seminars. Most notably, he created and co-chaired major INTA programs on trade dress law, and on intellectual property issues in business transactions, and conceived and led a new INTA program for developing lawyers called The Next Level. INTA twice awarded him with its volunteer service award.
He's fortunate to be able to advise some of the world's most sophisticated in-house IP lawyers, who manage large global trademark portfolios for companies that rank at the top of their industries.
