The Davis Wright community mourns the loss of our beloved partner, John LeCrone, who passed away on August 30, 2025.

John was a vital part of DWT for 20 years. His infectious warmth and outstanding reputation helped build our employment team in California from a small handful to more than 40 attorneys.

In his practice, John was widely regarded as among the very best. He was a vigorous advocate for clients in labor and employment matters, and he was deeply committed to the resolution of disputes with respect for adversaries and a clear objective of resolving disputes in the most effective and efficient way. John's practice was broad and diverse, including employment trials and litigation (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, trade secrets/unfair competition, ERISA), counsel (employment agreements, privacy, media and new technology), due diligence (mergers, acquisitions, facility closures), and training (executives, managers, and rank-and-file employees). Working with large and small corporations, partnerships, nonprofits and individuals, John guided clients managing workforces in a variety of industries, including financial services, healthcare, entertainment, media, manufacturing, food, and retail.

John's many honors included being named a "Community Health Champion" at Eisner Health's "Promise of Care" event in 2018 and one of the Top Minority Attorneys in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2020. He was inducted as a 2015 Fellow in the prestigious College of Labor & Employment Lawyers and was elected a member of its national board of governors effective January 2023.

John served in numerous leadership roles at DWT, including as a member of the firm's executive committee, vice-chair of its employment services practice, and founder/co-chair of its LGBTQ+ Attorneys affinity group. John also served on the board of USC Libraries and was a member of the advisory board for the USC Gould School of Law's Institute for Corporate Counsel.

With his commitment to clients and colleagues, wry humor and mischievousness, and effortless ability to enliven any gathering and bring people together, John left an indelible mark on our firm. We will miss him and his larger-than-life spirit tremendously. Our thoughts go to John's husband, Chris, and all of his family and close friends.
