SAN FRANCISCO – March 15, 2021 – Former Federal Communications Commission appellate lawyer Thaila Sundaresan has joined Davis Wright Tremaine's San Francisco office as a partner in the technology and communications practice, where she will focus on matters before the California Public Utilities Commission, the FCC, and on other appellate and regulatory matters.
"More than a year ago we set out looking for a senior lawyer with litigation and regulatory experience who could bolster our rapidly growing California communications regulatory practice," said Michael Sloan, chair of the communications practice. Teamed with Suzanne Toller, who leads our California PUC communications practice, and David Gossett, who joined our Washington, D.C. office from the FCC last year, and the others on our team, the sky's the limit for Thaila's practice."

Before her work at the FCC, Sundaresan was in the appellate and litigation practices at Sidley Austin and WilmerHale.
"The past six years of experience I gained working as a litigator at the FCC have prepared me to support DWT's existing CPUC work and to build a robust appeals practice focusing on telecommunications and related areas including technology and energy," said Sundaresan. Sundaresan received her B.A. from Stanford University, with honors, and her J.D. from the University of Maryland's Francis King Carey School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude.
