JUNE 7, 2021 Jeremy Chase, a partner in the New York office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP who helped defeat efforts to suppress one of last year's most talked-about books, was named a 2021 Rising Star in Media & Entertainment by Law360.

The Rising Stars list recognizes outstanding attorneys under 40 "whose legal accomplishments transcend their age." This is the third time in four years that a media/entertainment lawyer from DWT has been included among the small number of Law360 Rising Stars in this practice area.

Chase, 36, who was promoted to partner in January, has played a key role in a number of crucial matters on behalf of major clients in tech, entertainment, digital media, and traditional media.

Last year, he helped defeat a lawsuit, brought by Donald Trump's brother, that sought to stop our client, Simon & Schuster, from publishing "Too Much and Never Enough," the explosive family memoir by the former president's niece, Mary Trump.

Chase also helped win dismissal, at the Delaware Supreme Court, of a Silicon Valley tycoon's long-running defamation complaint against Vox Media. The importance of the case drew amicus interest from a coalition of two dozen news and free speech organizations.

Chase also has an extensive copyright litigation practice. The data analytics firm UniCourt singled him out last year as among the five most active individual attorneys defending copyright litigation in U.S. District courts. Recent results include winning dismissal of a copyright challenge to the BET reality series, "From the Bottom Up."

In addition, Chase regularly handles high-impact public-records litigation and pre-publication counseling for clients that include the New York Post, The Daily Beast, Slate, and Quartz.

Chase received his A.B. from Brown University and his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
