AUGUST 24, 2021 – Hope Levy-Biehl, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, had an extraordinary week of recognition last week. She was named Health Care Lawyer of the Year in Los Angeles by the peer-review guide Best Lawyers®. She was also one of just four finalists for Trusted Advisor of the Year at the Los Angeles Business Journal Health Care Awards.

For more than two decades, Levy-Biehl has helped leading California healthcare organizations meet challenges and create new programs in ways that align with their vision and values. Her deep knowledge of the regulatory framework in which providers operate, combined with her years of work with regulatory agencies across the state, help ensure that her clients can achieve their goals within the complex parameters of federal and state regulation.
Levy-Biehl served as lead regulatory counsel to Verity Health Systems in its years long process to wind down through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Thanks in part to her efforts, four of Verity's hospitals transitioned to new owners and remain open today, providing essential services to their communities.
Levy-Biehl was honored with yet a third award earlier this summer for her work on the Verity reorganization. The Global M&A Network recognized her with a Turnaround Atlas Award in the category of Special Situations M&A Deal.
Levy-Biehl frequently advises clients on new and evolving areas of the law. These include protections governing the privacy of consumer information, enhanced protections against referrals in the recovery and laboratory space, and federal guidelines involving co-located hospitals. Clients rely on her to monitor these developments and be available to help navigate them.
Levy-Biehl supports innovative startups and nontraditional providers as well. Since the beginning of the pandemic, she has counseled entrepreneurs without traditional healthcare experience working collaboratively to help detect and prevent the spread of COVID while helping people return to work and school.
