JULY 25, 2022 – Project W, an initiative of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, has launched its second annual Tech Equity Hub with a cohort of ten founders from across North America and Europe. The 12-week, virtual accelerator aims to provide Black women and Latinas with the tools, resources, and connections they need to build successful tech companies.
"It's well known that the current startup ecosystem is not serving founders in an equitable way," said Lynn Loacker, founder and managing director of Project W. "The amazing women participating in this year's Tech Equity Hub only further confirm for me how essential it is that we address funding disparities and unlock the potential of these underrepresented founders. They have ideas and vision that will truly change the world."
The Tech Equity Hub's expert faculty and accomplished mentors will cover product design and development, marketing and sales, business strategy and finance, legal, fundraising and leadership. At the conclusion of the program, which got underway this month, Project W will bring the cohort together in New York City for a live pitch evening and full day of networking with the Project W community.
Members of the cohort who successfully complete the program will also receive a $5,000 grant. The grants are underwritten by Project W and by the REACH program, which was launched this summer by Antares Capital to help level the playing field for entrepreneurs who are members of historically underrepresented groups.
Other Tech Equity Hub partners include Coalition Venture Studio, COI Energy, R/GA Ventures, SAP.io, and U.S. Bank.
Of the ten members of the cohort, four are Latinas and six are Black women. They come from nine cities in the U.S., Germany, and Mexico. They are building solutions in education, healthcare, real estate, sustainable retail, future of work, and finance that will improve the lives of people and the health of our planet.
