DEC. 9, 2022 – John LeCrone, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Davis Wright Tremaine, has been elected by the Board of Governors for the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers to serve on the board as a management-side representative.
The Board of Governors has 16 members, with four respectively representing the interests of management, employees, unions, and judicial/neutral. LeCrone's six-year term will start in January 2023.
Over his nearly three-decade career, LeCrone has assisted clients managing workforces in a variety of industries, including financial services, healthcare, entertainment, media, manufacturing, food, and retail. His experience includes representing clients in federal and state lawsuits that allege employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and failure to accommodate, as well as prosecuting and defending cases alleging theft of trade secrets, unfair competition, fraud, and employee raiding. He has served as lead defense counsel in numerous wage-and-hour class actions, as well as multi-plaintiff and class action cases alleging discrimination under the California Unruh Civil Rights Act and Gender Tax Repeal Act. He tries cases before juries, judges, and arbitrators.
LeCrone guides clients through the panoply of federal and state regulations governing the workplace, with a focus on avoiding lawsuits and claims before they arise. He helps negotiate clear, direct, and enforceable terms for employment, separation, and severance agreements.
LeCrone's many previous honors include being named a "Community Health Champion" at Eisner Health's "Promise of Care" event in 2018 and one of the Top Minority Attorneys in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal in 2020. He is recognized by "Best Lawyers in America" as one of the top practitioners in employment law and was inducted as a 2015 Fellow in the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.
Within Davis Wright, LeCrone has served on the firm's executive committee, attorney evaluation committee, and as vice-chair of the firm's Employment Services Group. He also spearheaded the establishment of the firm's LGBTQ+ affinity group and continues to serve as its co-chair, focusing his attention and energy on building a community where lawyers feel welcomed and supported. LeCrone also serves on the board of USC Libraries and is a member of the advisory board for the USC Gould School of Law's Institute for Corporate Counsel.
