OCT. 1, 2024 – The Hollywood Reporter has published its latest list of New York's 25 Most Powerful Entertainment Lawyers and three attorneys from Davis Wright Tremaine LLP—Carrie Casselman, Gray Coleman, and Rachel Strom—are among the honorees.
Casselman is a versatile transactional lawyer with more than a decade of experience as a content specialist in mergers, acquisitions, and financings involving film and television libraries, production companies, music catalogs, sports teams, and media and related intellectual property rights. She and Coleman are among only a handful of attorneys with deep live stage experience in the performing arts. The magazine particularly highlighted their representation of The Public Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, and other nonprofit institutional theaters across the country.
Coleman has more than 25 years of experience in intellectual property and general business law. The magazine noted that as primary outside counsel for several prestigious nonprofit theaters, Coleman "saw the fruits of his labor this past year as a number of new musicals developed across the country, including 'Hell's Kitchen,' 'Suffs,' and 'Water for Elephants,' went on to open on Broadway." This is Coleman's third appearance on the Hollywood Reporter's New York lawyers list.
The magazine celebrated Strom as "a First Amendment warrior" and noted her success this past year winning dismissal of a copyright lawsuit against the hit show "Abbott Elementary" and reversing a temporary restraining order that would have blocked airing of the Lifetime documentary "Where is Wendy Williams?" Strom was recognized last year in the magazine's list of Hollywood's Top 100 Attorneys and has been named an MVP of the Year in media and entertainment by Law360.
