May 4, 2026 – Recognizing the firm's "extraordinary commitment, leadership, and impact," Public Counsel has named Davis Wright Tremaine LLP the recipient of its 2026 Law Firm Pro Bono Award.

DWT was honored last week at Public Counsel's annual William O. Douglas Award Dinner.

Public Counsel, a Los Angeles-based, nonprofit, public interest law firm, said DWT "has consistently demonstrated a deep dedication to advancing civil rights, racial and economic justice, and access to legal representation for those who need it most."

Public Counsel took special note of DWT's partnership in launching a nationwide class action to protect immigrant youth under the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) Deferred Action Policy, a policy the federal government abruptly terminated last year. A federal judge granted our motion for a stay of the recission policy and restored automatic consideration for deferred action while the case proceeds on appeal. DWT attorneys and staff have devoted more than 2,000 hours so far to the ongoing case.

DWT has also volunteered thousands of hours supporting Public Counsel's adoptions program, helping youth in foster care find permanent homes, and assisting nonprofits and small businesses through the organization's community development project.

Expressing gratitude for the Public Counsel award, DWT partner Brad Miller told the dinner attendees: "Coming from an organization so deeply respected for advancing justice, this recognition is especially meaningful to our firm."

In her remarks, DWT managing partner Jaime Drozd said: "We are grateful to stand beside you, and committed to the work ahead. Because in the end, the greatest measure of our profession is not the cases we win, or the verdicts we secure. It's in the lives we change."
