As of January 1, 2014, if you have employees working in Portland, even if not based there, they may be entitled to accrue and use paid sick leave under Portland's new ordinance. Even employers who currently provide sick leave or PTO are significantly impacted by this ordinance. Will your organization be ready to comply?

Presenters Carol Noonan, and Christie Totten helped:

  • Understand the detailed requirements of the new ordinance and the upcoming final regulations
  • Analyze how this mandated benefit impacts existing accrual policies, expands the type of absences for which employees may use their accruals, and impacts verification, call-in, absence control, and rehire policies
  • Examine your options for complying with this ordinance for part-time, seasonal, or similar employees who may have previously accrued no sick leave or PTO
  • Provide example written policies to help you shape your organization's sick leave or PTO policies

(On-demand versions are not eligible for CLE credit.)
