What do Harry Potter Book Publishers and the Fashion Industry Have in Common? Both are Preserving First Growth Timber by Using Sustainable Alternatives

DWT's Sustainability Committee is delighted to feature Nicole Rycroft, founder and executive director of Canopy Planet, who shares the organization's story in a Q&A format with DWT's Tom Burke. Canopy, based in Vancouver, B.C., is a global nonprofit that has been a DWT client for several years. Canopy works with the forest industry's largest customers, from book publishers and printers to leading clothing brands to fashion designers and their suppliers to protect these last frontier forests.

Nicole is one of the winners of the 2020 Climate Breakthrough Award. The award is given to extraordinary strategists to afford them the time, space, and resources to develop and implement bold new strategies to confront and mitigate the growing climate crisis. Over the next three years, Nicole will receive a $3 million grant and tailored support from the Climate Breakthrough Project to bring her visionary new strategies from idea to fruition.
