On February 3, 2022, during an exclusive interview with Yahoo Finance, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce acknowledged that the SEC has not established workable rules for cryptocurrency exchanges as they currently operate and noted that she has yet to see any formal, direct proposals for regulating cryptocurrency exchanges or cryptocurrency in general on the SEC's agenda this year. After sharing her view that the SEC should establish cryptocurrency frameworks based upon the SEC's rulebook and existing statutory authority, Peirce remarked, "I just don't see it on the horizon based on what's in the regulatory agenda.
