"Is the IRA Accomplishing its Goals?," Climate Network CLE, Davis Wright Tremaine
Two years after enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), we assessed the crucial process of actually implementing it, which is the key to accelerating the clean energy transition and achieving our climate goals. We identify where the IRS's implementation has gone smoothly and where it's still evolving, and touch on some of the important non-tax provisions.
We also identified the collateral obstacles to the IRA's success. Specifically, we brought you up to speed on Congressional efforts to expedite the energy siting and permitting process, and the steps recently taken by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to speed the interconnection of generating projects to the transmission system, and to ensure sufficient transmission capacity to carry the output of those projects to retail customers.
