When Emily Brown joined Project W's first Tech Equity Hub, she was in the process of transitioning her work in the "food as medicine" space from the nonprofit she founded to her digital health company, Attane Health. Whether in the nonprofit sector or, now, through Attane Health, Emily is passionate about advancing health equity. As a national patient advocate, Emily has testified before the FDA and USDA, advancing health equity and patient-centered care. She also co-authored peer-reviewed research on food systems and health disparities while serving on various hospital and food policy committees.
Emily's leadership is driven by her lived experience and commitment to transformative health outcomes. From personal experience, Emily knows how challenging it can be to manage chronic conditions with limited resources and when the "right" foods are just out of reach. She notes that "as a former Medicaid beneficiary from Kansas, I've navigated our safety net and came up empty. I'm humbled every day to be part of the solution to ensure no other families have to experience the challenges."
For almost four years, Attane Health has helped under-served communities manage their chronic health conditions, improve health outcomes, and lower the cost of care. Focused on the Medicaid population, Attane Health provides patients access to nutrient dense foods, education, and support. Through its data-driven approach, Attane Health provides providers and payers with analytics that help them measure specific health outcomes and improve treatment strategies.
"Access to nutrient-dense food and nutrition care is a critical building block of health and wellbeing," Emily says. Attane Health is on a mission to empower everyone with these critical tools to improve their health.
