Sam F. Cate-Gumpert

Sam Cate-Gumpert represents media, entertainment, and technology companies in high-profile lawsuits involving defamation, copyright infringement, invasion of privacy, reporters' shield laws, platform liability, right of publicity, trademark infringement, and false advertising, with extensive experience litigating anti-SLAPP actions in state and federal court.
Sam also maintains an active counseling and vetting practice, advising on pre-publication and pre-broadcast risk and serving as production counsel for all manner of newsrooms, studios, and publishers, including the New York Post, the California Post, Apple, A&E, Defector, the Telegraph (UK), Puck, Gimlet, Foreign Policy, The Ringer, Pineapple Media, VICE, Sports Illustrated, and Votebeat, as well as individual authors, artists, documentarians, and journalists.
Prior to joining DWT, Sam worked in the arts and publishing, including as art director for Harper's Magazine.
