Edric Itchon, CIPP/US, has nearly two decades of business and legal experience in Silicon Valley and a technology transactions practice amounting to over $50 billion in total value signed worldwide across a broad range of industries and deal structures.

Edric focuses his practice on the intersection of media and technology, including video games and advertising technology. His work also includes complex transactions involving artificial intelligence, software, hardware, data, cloud services, fintech, and biotech.

Prior to focusing on technology transactions, Edric advised on patent, antitrust, and commercial disputes at large international law firms and clerked at the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He also facilitated large-volume, multimillion-dollar deals as a business development manager at HP.

Advised on development, distribution, licensing, trademark, and royalty agreements for AAA games and casual games.

Artificial intelligence

Advised on numerous artificial intelligence development, licensing, and acquisition matters, including: integrated solutions applying computer vision to IoT edge devices; AI platform and application development leveraging collaborations among semiconductor, memory, IoT device, and training data companies; neural network-based machine translation technologies designed to facilitate cross-border e-commerce; and conversational AI services for sales, marketing and finance.

Software

Advised on software-related issues relating to: source code (review and negotiation of source code release triggers and other escrow arrangements, review of confidentiality protections and information security protocols); development (ownership, milestones, sprints, modifications, derivative works and forked codebases); open source (coordination of source code audits and remediation, review of code scans, open source policies and open source licenses, recommendation of software delivery model); Software-as-a-Service and other hosted services (including service level agreements); and distributed and on-premise software.
