Charles Lam is a member of Davis Wright Tremaine's media and entertainment practice, where he counsels industry-leading content creators on First Amendment, copyright, right-of-publicity, and other complex issues from prelitigation through trial.
Charles previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark C. Scarsi of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. During law school, he worked as a law clerk at a reality television production company and won the ABA Forum on Communication Law's 14th Annual First Amendment and Media Law Diversity Moot Court.
He maintains an active pro bono practice, including previously representing an independent journalist in a civil rights action against a major city for injuries sustained while covering a protest in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
Prior to law school, he worked as a journalist for NBC News.
