Mauricio Uribe is a strategic advisor to companies at the forefront of technology and innovation, leveraging three decades of industry-recognized experience in intellectual property law. He provides comprehensive counseling across all aspects of IP law, including patent prosecution, portfolio development, trade secrets protection, and enforcement. Mauricio's business-focused approach is further informed by eight years of experience as an in-house attorney, where he guided clients from the earliest rounds of financing through IPOs and beyond.
Repeatedly named to IAM's lists of "The World's Leading IP Strategists," among other recognitions, Mauricio develops patent and trademark portfolios for a diverse clientele, from individual inventors to the top of the Fortune 500 list, covering industries from financial services and software to consumer electronics, automotive, and medical devices. He counsels clients on patentability, due diligence, complex litigation, and global licensing. A trained computer and electrical engineer, Mauricio understands both the business and technical sides of virtualization, network communications, content distribution and streaming, AI/ML, and distributed ledger technology, among others.
Mauricio has represented clients before the USPTO for 25+ years, focusing on inter partes review (IPR) and post-grant review (PGR) strategies and filings. He has supported litigation and enforcement matters in federal district courts and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and International Trade Commission (ITC). He is a thought leader and frequent lecturer on IP topics, including patent subject matter eligibility, trade secrets protection, copyright registration, and licensing. Before joining DWT, Mauricio co-founded the Seattle office of an IP law firm where he chaired practice groups focused on data privacy and protection, software, IT, and electrical issues. He also led initiatives in AI and open-source tech.
