Yusuf Z. Zakir

Yusuf Zakir leads the firm's talent and inclusion efforts to hire, develop and grow lawyers and business professionals who combine deep legal expertise, technological fluency, business acumen, and emotional intelligence—creating an excellent, inclusive, adaptive workforce that fuels exceptional client outcomes. He leads the firm's talent acquisition; professional development; human resources; DWTSurge; and diversity, equity, and inclusion departments.

Drawing on more than a decade of AmLaw 100 experience, Yusuf works closely with key stakeholders across the firm to implement strategies, programs, and initiatives to build and develop exceptional talent at DWT.

Previously, Yusuf served as the firm's first Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. In that role, Yusuf built a DEI strategy at the firm based on four pillars—Community, Growth, Education, and Engagement. He is considered a thought leader, frequently authors relevant pieces, and is regularly quoted by major publications.

Under Yusuf's leadership, Davis Wright Tremaine is regularly recognized for its efforts. This includes Seramount Top 10 Best Law Firms for Women and Diversity, Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index Perfect Score, and several client recognitions. Yusuf has also personally received the inaugural Cultural Catalyst Award from the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance in 2023 and the Hazel McCallion Alumni Award from the University of Toronto in 2025.
