Quantum computing promises significant scientific and commercial advances, but it also threatens the cryptographic protections that secure modern digital activity, including encrypted communications, financial transactions, authentication, and digital signatures. The risk is not just future-facing: adversaries may already be collecting encrypted data today with the goal of decrypting it once sufficiently powerful quantum computers emerge.

In this webinar, panelists will explain the basics of quantum computing, why cryptography is foundational to cybersecurity, and how quantum capabilities could compromise widely used encryption standards. They will discuss the development of post-quantum cryptography (PQC), emerging standards, and government and industry efforts to transition to quantum-resistant algorithms. By the end of the webinar, attendees will understand practical steps organizations should consider now—including inventorying cryptographic assets, prioritizing high-risk systems and data, engaging vendors, and planning for migration—as well as key legal and regulatory considerations moving forward.

This webinar is the second installment in a two-part series co-hosted by DWT and FTI Consulting on emerging technologies and cyber threats. Part one of the series examined how AI-driven vulnerability discovery is reshaping the threat landscape.

Speakers:

  • Michael Borgia, Partner, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP
  • Ankur Sheth, Sr. Managing Director, FTI Consulting
  • Greg Berkin, Senior Advisor, FTI Consulting
