NOV. 10, 2020 – For the second year in a row, the Diversity and Flexibility Alliance has recognized Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as a "Tipping the Scales" honoree. The award recognizes firms whose partner promotions in 2020 included at least 50% women.
"Achieving gender equity in this profession is going to be a long process but we are determined to lead wherever we can," said Jeff Gray, firmwide managing partner at Davis Wright Tremaine. "Two of our primary strategic priorities are providing the highest level of client service and attracting and retaining the strongest talent. One of the surest ways to achieve those goals is to continue building a firm culture where diversity is recognized as a strength and everyone has an equitable opportunity to succeed."
The firm elevated seven lawyers to partner in January of this year, including four women:
- Betsy Carroll (Employment) – Los Angeles
- Christina Chan (Business Transactions) – Seattle
- Sunny Knight (Technology) – Seattle
- Martha Phelps (Technology) – Seattle
Davis Wright Tremaine's success in advancing women lawyers has been widely recognized. The firm ranked #2 in Law360's 2020 Glass Ceiling Report, which compares law firms of similar size on their percentage of equity partners and total attorneys who are women. Working Mother magazine also included Davis Wright among its 2020 Best Law Firms for Women, the firm's seventh straight appearance on the list.
