NOV. 2, 2023 – The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America 2023 has named Davis Wright Tremaine a finalist in three separate award categories, reflecting the firm's success in areas of ongoing strategic focus.

The categories are:

  • Innovative Lawyers in Technology
The FT recognized a joint litigation campaign launched last year as a partnership between Amazon and Davis Wright to combat fake online product reviews. The campaign, which is unprecedented in both scale and substance, draws on Davis Wright's strong cybercrime practice to identify and uncover the methods of fake-review brokers and put a stop to their damaging activities. The program is led by Davis Wright partner Scott Commerson.
  • Innovation in People and Skills Development
The FT recognized Davis Wright's "bias interrupter" program, which assigns each member of the firm's evaluation, compensation, and partner admission committees a specific period during the deliberation process when they have responsibility for throwing "bias flags," calling for an intentional pause to discuss or reflect. The program was developed by Yusuf Zakir, Davis Wright's chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer.
  • Innovative Lawyers in Access to Justice and Civil Rights
The FT recognized the Protecting Journalists Pro Program (or ProJourn), a groundbreaking initiative piloted by Davis Wright and Microsoft to support independent, investigative media. Now overseen nationally by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, ProJourn is led at Davis Wright by Joanna Plichta Boisen, chief pro bono and social impact officer, and Thomas R. Burke, a leading First Amendment attorney.
