JULY 13, 2026 – Derek Bishop, a seasoned employment litigator with nearly two decades of experience defending employers in high-stakes class actions and workplace disputes, has joined Davis Wright Tremaine LLP as a partner in Seattle.
Bishop brings a strong record defending employers in wage-and-hour class and collective actions, discrimination and retaliation claims, and other complex workplace disputes. He represents companies across industries including agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, and technology and has experience before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and state and federal courts in Washington and Oregon. In addition to his litigation practice, he advises employers on a wide range of workplace and compliance issues.
Bishop's arrival further expands DWT's nationally recognized employment services group and strengthens the firm's ability to serve employers throughout the Pacific Northwest and across the country.
Bishop joins the firm after nearly four years at Littler Mendelson P.C. He was previously a partner at Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP, where he practiced for more than a decade.
"Derek combines first-chair litigation experience with practical day-to-day counseling skills that employers value," said Laura Sack, co-chair of DWT's employment services group. "His depth in wage-and-hour and other workplace-related litigation bolsters an already exceptional team and we're delighted to welcome him to DWT."
"DWT has long been a leader in employment law and a firm I have admired throughout my career," said Bishop. "The team combines outstanding legal talent with a practical, business-focused approach to client service and I'm excited to join them."
Bishop routinely handles complex employment litigation, with a particular focus on wage-and-hour class and collective actions, employment discrimination matters, retaliation claims, and other high-exposure workplace disputes. He also advises employers on compliance, workforce management, compensation and scheduling practices, restrictive covenant issues, and employment-related agreements.
His wage-and-hour experience is informed by his writing on FLSA collective action notice standards, and he regularly counsels employers on practical solutions to workplace challenges and risk management issues.
Bishop received his B.A. and his J.D. from the University of Washington.
