On March 30, 2021, a federal court granted the California Chamber of Commerce's preliminary injunction to temporarily bar the California Attorney General and any private litigants from filing any new Proposition 65 lawsuits targeting acrylamide in food and beverage products.

Despite the Council for Education and Research on Toxics’ (CERT) efforts to put the preliminary injunction on hold, the court denied CERT’s application for stay on April 15, 2021. Thus, the ban on new court filings alleging improper exposure to acrylamide without warning will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
